Returning twice a year for seven years now!

DrYvesGagnon, Grandmere, Canada - 22 April, 2013

Eight years ago,my son and I decided to take the dream of surfing and make it a reality. We needed a nice, affordable and secure place to stay. Every 6 months we go there, relax, surf, work et enjoy ourself a lot. Jasmine, Emilio and Antony are just great people and they will always help you with anything if you're in trouble. To wake up every morning to the sound of the waves, get up, make a pot of coffee, take a look at the sea and decide if the waves are good for surfing, put some sunscreen and go.

Wow, how can you resist. If you need more than a fair place that's "La Dolce Vita".

Hope to meet you there sometime in a near future. Dr Yves, Trois-Rivières, Québec

La Dolce Vita.

sheenan_13-13,Qualicum Beach, Canada - 5 April, 2013

Enjoyed our stay at this quaint lovely spot in Esterios. Staff awesome and welcoming. Units are clean and location is the best if you like peace and quiet. Wonderful restaurants in town to feed us local grub.Returning for our 4th year to this gem in the rough.

Extended my stay...

Doug152, Prescott, Canada - 14 March, 2013

My original booking for La Dolce Vita was for 10 days. After that, I extended twice to make my time at the beach into a full month. That, in summary, says it all, and is my endorsement. This small hotel is situated in an authentic village setting, surrounded by jungle-like trees, foliage and flowers, and yet within exactly 30 seconds one can be walking, swimming (or surfing) on the beach. The sound of the waves crashing on the shore are what you hear going to sleep and awakening each day. All the necessary amenities are included in each unit, and I have found it to be a very peaceful and relaxing setting. The young couple, Jasmina and Emilio, who manage the hotel as well as providing excellent breakfasts, individually served, are good hosts. In all, it has been a truly satisfying experience staying at La Dolce Vita. I have no hesitation in submitting a wholehearted recommendation.

Unforgettable place

Gigi B., San Jose - 4 February, 2013

loved this place for its special position on the beach, first line to the waves of the ocean. For its good breakfast, the tiny and clean swimming pool, the warm welcome of the staff. Wifi was very good, as well as satellite television, room climatization confortable, the bed confortable. Price was excellent and I think Esterillos Oeste is a special place, with a nice atmosphere.

Great time

Robert L, London, Canada – 23 january 2013

After a lengthy delay in getting there, the manager (Kevin - nicaraguan) met me about 9 pm on Sunday and got me all settled in. The hotel is right next door to some campgrounds and they were carrying on, which is fine unless you are trying to sleep. i was so tired anyway, i don't remember my head hitting the pillow, but another guest told me that he went over and told them to turn it down. Kevin and his wife and son live there as well, and they work hard. They don't need to be up all night either because they prep each continental breakfast fresh. It was filling, hit the spot, coffee was great.

The room was adequate for what I needed it for, sleeping, showering etc. 5 star it is not, but clean with hot water on the shower yes. By the way, that does need a little explanation, since how hot the water gets on the shower is dependent on the flow, in that if the water is on full, you never get the benefit of the hot water...takes a little bit of experimenting and for a couple of days i had tap water coolness for showers.

Pool is small with fine for cooling off with, beach is right there. You can watch the surfers at the high tides cut the waves. I enjoyed some time playing water gun fights in the pools with Kevin's boy of about 4 or 5. He seems to hit the pool about 3-4 each day and he loves it when you pay him some attention.

Guests come from all over the world, i met an Argentinean, Americans, Italians, Spaniards and yes some Ticans as well. Overall Esterillos Oueste can be a ghost town during the week, but picks up on the weekends when everybody comes it.

Great place on the beach

Morenie, Eureka, California – 11 December 2012

Dolce Vita the best in Playa Esterillos

LoveChich, Mississauga, Canada – 24 october 2012

I arrived in Playa Esterillos around 9 pm. at night everything was dark OMG! I said to myself .... I started to walk not knowing my surrondings at all .... I arrived at a Covenience Store and ask for Dolce Vita Hotel and they gave me directions .... Emilio was waiting for me and walked me to my room. The room very simple but had everything you need it Kitchen, fridge, plates, pots, cutlery, living and dining room, bathroom, double bed, tv, a/c what else you need ? food ! convenience store five minutes walking! The hotel is right on the beach you can hear the sound of the waves all day long !! Restaurants three or four around. You can walk to the hwy and take a bus to Jaco Beach and spend the day there too. Jaco Beach not safe at night. Esterillos beach thousand times better than Jaco. I had an amazing time and would love to come back. Thank you Emilio for all your help. Regards from Canada. Room Tip: the front rooms have ocean view directly.

On the beach, comfortable, moderate price

OrganicmanCR, San Jose – 9 July 2012

It was my first time at Esterillos Oeste beach. I chose it to get away from the touristy Jaco where I have gone for 10 years before. As advertised, it is a small quiet beach location, very laid back. I actually liked the beach here more than Jaco because it was cleaner, plenty big, and had way fewer people. I also found many more nice whole sea shells here. The waves were excellent for body surfing which I do...as well as for boards that I saw plenty of also. The hotel itself is right on the beach, yet with it's own fenced area for security. I had the room overlooking the ocean, 2nd floor. It was comfortable in size for 1, 2, or 3 easily. The kitchen was complete...fridge, pots and pans and silverware, cooking utensils, etc. There are a couple stores less than 5 min walk away for all the food and drink basics. I was not looking for fancy, expensive, so my evaluations are based on what I knew I was looking for.

The best part of Costa Rica - and the nicest people

Nboutcher, Port Jefferson, New York – 6 June 2012

Esterillos is a small closely-knit Costa Rican town. This hotel is the best place to stay, I've been going to Esterillos Oeste for day trips for the last 7 years, to surf - now that I have found this place, we always stay the night. THe owner is very nice, he is on duty 24/7 making sure the place is safe. People leave their surfboards outdoors at night and don't even have to worry. The people in Esterillos are very nice - smile at them, be respectful, and you just might get invited along on a free fishing trip, or to a dinner in someone's home.

Dolce Vita is clean, charming, the A/C in the rooms works great, and the location is unbeatable. We love it - we will go again next month.

Great little hotel excellent location!

Little W,, Toronto, Ontario, Canada – 17 April 2012

La Dolce Vita in Esterillos Oeste was a fantastic first destination on my few months in Central America. The rooms are not too small and they are clean, and are equiped with a working kitchen and little bathroom. They also have AC which is a plus sometimes! Little pool helps you cool off if you are too lazy to walk the extra 1 minute across the sand into the ocean. Such good location! And great breakfasts! And seriously great town with minimal tourists from America and Canada, and a real authentic vibe. Would totally recommend Esterillos Oeste and La Dolce Vita!

First time there

tonia13, st petersburg fl – 19 February 2012

You couldn't of ask a more personal place to stay at. It was clean and frendly. The host's did everything that you asked them for. Breakfast was good and served when you wanted it between the hours. All the other people that came in and out where also very nice. We gather around the self served bar nightly and enjoyed the priavte pool. The host made sure we where safe and picked up after us after to many beers. There were near by bars & grills and store's. No problem getting around. Lot's of beach to walk and wonderful sunrise and sunset's. Enjoy the birds, horse and other native animals.

Hat's off to Nick that helped us thu a rough time and the hostess.

beautiful. just as pictured and just as planned”

Penfield NY, 28 January 2011

The rooms were very comfortable, the breakfast were timely, varied, and delivered to our rooms. The A/C and TV worked well. The view of the ocean was just as your web site pictured it. We would sit on our private balcony eat breakfast, drink wonderful coffee and watch the breakers roll in. then we would stroll the beautiful, clean beach.

A must if you are in Esterillos Oeste, Costa Rica. Truly, the sweet life!

elenamalee, Santo Domingo de Heredia, 20 february 2011

We have visited this hotel 4 times already over the years and cannot wait to go back. The value is excellent. Great price for what you get. You will not be disappointed. There is no better place to stay in Esterillos!!! Don't forget to check out the Copper Mermaid (perhaps the only one of its kind in the world) that sits out in the ocean at high tide and which at low tide you can walk out to. Happy Travels.

Cheap Hotel right on the beach

jessica155nyc, New York, NY, 14 May 2010

Was overall very happy with the hotel. Hotel owners are extremely nice and friendly. Every morning, they make you a light breakfast (toast, fruit and yummy coffee) whenever you're ready. Walk a couple steps down the beach and go to the Low Tide Lounge. Best fish tacos ever, strong drinks and friendly American staff… Air conditioning in the bedroom.

Laid back beach hotel

vld3233, San Diego, California, 4 May 2010

it's right on the beach in the relaxing, laid back town of Esterillos Oeste, about 20 mins south of Jaco. We stayed there for 4 nights and loved every minute of it.

Best beach hotel ever!.

Trip Advisor member, 25 February 2010

Best beach hotel ever! Don't expect a resort but if you want a comfortable apartment go to dolce vita… Breakfast was good we had it served at the pool. The hotel is 10 feet from the beach and good waves-lots of surfing. Try el vago next door for pizza-it's so good and super cheap. If you have united you can book this hotel for miles too. Thanks dolce vita we stayed for four days and it was awesome.

Nice place to stay..

Pradex, San José, Costa Rica, 24 April 2010

..we got probably the best price ever for this hotel, nice place, the pool is small but its ok and very clean, hotel next to the beach and has SKY. Really for the price we paid we received more than what we paid believe me!

Joshkadi, okanagan, 20 February 2010

We stayed at the LA DOLCE VITA for 1 month and it was fabulous! Emilio y Jasmine looked after us like family turning an exciting holiday into a memorable life experience. The hotel is small but more than adequate...bedroom, bath, kitchen eating area, and air cond., plus a pool. The grounds are lovely and well cared for. The beach is magnificent and only steps away. We travelled in CR for 3 months and La Dolce Vita was a favorite for all the right reasons and we'll go back asap. Esterillos is small but very friendly..some great places to eat etc., and Jaco or Quepos aren't far away. Our stay at La Dolce Vita was just terrific!!!

A great place to relax

goodbye-winter, Saskatoon, 22 February 2009

My wife and I spent a month at La Dolce Vita from mid January to mid February. We wanted to escape the Canadian winter and spend a month relaxing on the beach… The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is right on a wonderful beach. We could walk for several kilometers and often were alone on the beach. Weekends tended to be busier. The village is very safe.

Lovely Hotel and beach in Esterillos Oeste

Marco26, Milano, 2 April 2007

My wife, two children and I spent one week at "La Dolce Vita" in February. It was a nice experience! You sleep with a slight sound of ocean waves, that is perfect for relaxing, and when you wake up, just a few steps and you are facing the beauty of the ocean, the beach, the palms, the lapas (wonderful kind of parrots with many colours). The beach is huge and clean and the nature gorgeous.
